Scopus is a database of journals, research articles and citations from Elesevier. Scopus is also known for its journal rankings, and inclusion of a journal in Scopus is often an indicator of a journal's status as a reputable international publication, as journals need to meet basic elibility criteria to be included. Scopus indexes over 22,000 active academic journals, trade journals and academic book series, plus another 13,500 inactive journals and series. Publications included in Scopus are those that meet general standards for peer review quality and citation scores for articles in the indexed journals.

Scopus data from Scopus and Scimago journals include rankings or rough impact factor metrics, quartile rankings, subject area, specific academic fields, and an H-index. The H index serves as an index or ranking of the journal based on authors' impact, achievements and citations.
